Quota for Frozen Meat Imports Increased

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: The government has again increased the quota for frozen meat imports by 28,000 tons. This was made through an approval letter for the October – December 2011 period.

The Agriculture Ministry’s livestock director-general Prabowo Respatyo Caturroso said the increase was needed to fulfill the industry demands until the end of the year.

He was certain the quota increase would not upset the price of local cattle. “Meat prices are still stable despite the high quota,” he claimed.
